Temporary Closures: Current advice
When Lake Burley Griffin filled in 1964, historic farms and sporting facilities established for the early community of Canberra disappeared. In 2004 a black marble monument was unveiled beside the Acton Peninsula wharf to commemorate the old suburb of Acton and its residents.
We acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as traditional custodians of the ACT and recognise any other people or families with connection to the lands of the ACT and region.
We acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region.
