The National Capital Authority (NCA) will conduct a control burn of a small area of Yarramundi Grasslands on Saturday 5 June 2021, from 10am to 7pm.

  • Yarramundi Grasslands, between Lady Denman Drive and Lake Burley Griffin

Weather permitting, experienced Rural Fire Service fire fighters will conduct the burning operation.

This burn is to reduce fuel loads, promote native grass growth and reduce exotic weed species in this area.

The control burn will cause some smoke in the area. Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of smoke.

The burn will only proceed based on weather forecasts and availability of fire crews.

ACT Health advises that people with asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke.

People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
