Operation of paddle boats on Lake Burley Griffin has paused while the boats are assessed for repairs.
“The iconic paddle boats, which have been a part of Canberra life for almost half a century, are in need of repair and will not be available for the 2023 summer,” said National Capital Authority CEO Sally Barnes.
“Many Canberrans and visitors to the National Capital will have fond memories of peddling out onto Lake Burley Griffin on one of the paddle boats.
“The National Capital Authority is exploring options for their repair or ways showcase them as a treasured part of Canberra’s history and heritage.
“We will provide more information in due course,” Ms Barnes said.
