My wife and I been to the War Memorial many times. We have also visited many of the major Australian battle fields throughout the world. I am personally a student of WW1 but have a keen interest in all conflicts in which Australia was involved. I think it is vitally important for future generations that they have opportunity to fully understand and view all the areas of conflict. The best place to do this is the War Memorial.
It really disturbs me that Australian involvement and sacrifice in the Battle at Fromelles is not represented in the Battle Honours on Memorials throughout the World. The view that it was part of the Battle for Poziers is just a lame excuse.
Australians are very lucky that Previous Governments and people like Bean had the foresight to create the War Memorial. Let’s keep up the great work already done.
Regards, Brian Roper
