Join Carillonist Dr Thomas Laue and acclaimed Wiradjuri-Tongan vocalist Tahalianna Soward-Mahanga for a special National Reconciliation Week concert at the National Carillon celebrating the 2026 theme "All In" — a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation.
Tahalianna Soward-Mahanga is a rising star on the Australian music scene, having captivated audiences on ‘The Voice' at age 15 and performed at prestigious venues including the Canberra Theatre Centre, National Gallery of Australia, and major festivals across the national capital region. Her powerful voice and deep connection to culture bring a unique dimension to this collaborative performance.
This year's National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) commemorates two defining moments in Australia's journey toward justice: the 1967 Referendum and the 1992 Mabo High Court decision.
The concert program weaves together Indigenous Australian voices and international anthems of hope, justice and unity. Opening with Joe Geia's healing anthem "Yil Lull," the performance features Midnight Oil's powerful land rights statement "Beds are Burning" — the featured song for National Reconciliation Week 2026 — alongside John Farnham's "You're the Voice," Andra Day's stirring "Rise Up," and Bruce Woodley's "We are Australian." The program also includes traditional Torres Strait Islander song "Taba Naba," John Lennon's timeless "Imagine," and Michael Jackson's uplifting "Heal the World."
This unique collaboration showcases the National Carillon's 57 bells alongside Tahalianna's soaring vocals, demonstrating that reconciliation is a shared journey requiring all Australians to stand together.
