I object to the massive overdevelopment of the war memorial to house the tools of war. The War Memorial should be a place of contemplation and reflection on the nature of war and challenge those who choose to visit to work for meaningful peace. How will this investment support the thousand of victims of war? The civilians injured and killed, the families damaged, the combatants and their families deeply effected by PTSD. Will this development, for some, including our political leaders, serve to embolden the mentality that they can send troops or machines to war with a false sense of impunity. Why are corporations who make the machines of war such significant contributors - they only profit from destruction. Please re-think the assumptions of these changes to the Australian War Memorial.
