To whom it may concern,
I am writing in support of the Australian War Memorial Redevelopment Project in the building of a new and much larger Anzac Hall.
Considering recent events in Afghanistan, our Veterans need such significant projects to capture our history, true legacy, and inspire future generations to come.
I believe there is a gap in Australian history represented at the war memorial from the past 50 years.
Post-Vietnam Veterans are represented in an area 17 x 19 square metres, or less than
4% of the gallery space. This exhibit area should be expanded to properly tell the stories of Australian military and police Veterans who have served in the ADF post-Vietnam.
This is an opportunity to showcase the great diversity of their work, which spans across operations of peacekeeping since 1947, humanitarian aid, disaster relief and to tell the story of Australia’s longest war in the Middle East.
I do not want the men and women who have served over the past 50 years to be forgotten. Their service and dedication to their country and professions deserves to be recognised.
