Submitter: Barbara O'DwyerNew Southern Entrance
I feel inordinately sad that the original purpose of the Australian War Memorial is being set aside by the Government and that in so doing these main works are inconsistent with the National Capital Plan. Please reconsider them.
In particular, none of the changes to the southern facade either conserve or enhance the significance of the Memorial site.

Anzac Hall and Glazed Link
There seems no value in the destruction of Anzac Hall which was both useable and had artistic merit. Australians want their war dead honoured for their courage and sacrifice, not have the Memorial turned into a museum that glamorises war and its weaponry. These changes do not comply with the values of our country.
