Submission to the Australian War Memorial

I would like to see dedicated memorials of the contemporary wars in Iraq/Afghanistan and the peace-keeping operations in East Timor and elsewhere. The memorials should not focus only on those who died in theatre, but instead should offer evidence of the contributions of those who took part. Although it would be inappropriate to list the names of those who have committed suicide since their return to Australia as war casualties, there should be some public acknowledgment of ongoing effects of recent military operations upon the lives of many young Australians and their families.
