I support the commencement and primary aim of the Project to expand the exhibit area to properly tell the stories of Australian military and police Veterans who have served in the ADF post-Vietnam. There is a gap in our military history of 50 years, and it will show the great diversity of their work, which spans across operations of peacekeeping since 1947, humanitarian aid, disaster relief and to tell the story of Australia’s longest war.
It's known the project has received full Parliamentary approval in February 2021, and early works to demolish Anzac Hall have occurred so that a new, larger Anzac Hall can be built in its place to host collections of items from more recent engagements in Syria and Afghanistan and into the future.
The story of our Australian military history is important to educate our next generations and continue honouring the commitment and sacrifice our service men and women have contributed to our freedom and way of life serving one another.
