I am not sure about how the changes to the are a positive enhancement views from the lake. There is no evidence of this.
I can't see how the changes improve the heritage value of the AWM. Please explain.

Bean Building Extension and Central Energy Plant
Killing trees around the AWM does not improve the heritage or visual aspects of the area. Explanations are needed to explain how this action enhances the heritage and other values especially environmental.
Anzac Hall and Glazed Link
My understanding is that the AWM must ensure (under its legislation) that this proposal enhances the heritage value of the site. Once again, an explanation is needed to explain how these changes will enhance the heritage value.
The existing Hall maybe considered too small but the changes will not lead to a more conducive contemplative atmosphere. It thus destroys much of the good original reasons to have a space for quiet comtemplation.
At a personal level, I never visit the AMW to spend time in silence any more due to the high noise levels. My current option is to spend time at the Vietnam War memorial to contemplate the Sacrifice.
In general, the AWM building was designed to help people come to grips with war . It is becoming more like a museum than a memorial. My suggestion is that the building be left as it is with a focus on aid to contemplation. If extra space is needed to show of war equipment etc then a space at Mitchell in the ACT for example, could be constructed at less cost . It could be then have the function of a museum and proudly say so.
