I am an ex-RAAF Nursing Service officer who left the RAAF only to raise a family while accompanying my husband on postings over 30 years. My father served in the RAF on active service in World War II and my grandfather served with the Shropshire Light Infantry and gassed in World War 1. As an Australian citizen, I am proud of both my family heritage in UK and my Australian heritage and service with the ADF, where both our sons were Army reservists. The AWM is a wonderful source of pride in my adopted country and during our times in Canberra and on visits, I have found the visits to the AWM both to attend services pf commemoration and to visit the museum areas both humbling and educational. I love the AWM for what it has been, how it has evolved and how it is evolving into the future. My pride in what the AWM staff have done has always been the strongest and my trust from the past has grown in seeing the plans for the future. It is so wonderful and I cannot wait to see the plans put into effect. That are truly wonderful and I give my fullest support.
Anzac Hall and Glazed Link
I remember the old aeroplane hall and thought it was inspiring when I first saw in back in 1969 after joining the RAAF. When I heard it was to be modified in later years, I though the AWM would lose something but on seeing the new hall and the sound and light shows, I realized the the AWM knew what it was doing on the upgrade and had excelled itself. My trust now is such that I know that the planned upgrades will again prove my trust in the AWM and I look forward to being further impressed again. Please keep up the good work and you have my fullest trust and support.
