The National Capital Authority (NCA) welcomes the team at The Dock as the successful new operators of the East Kiosk and Jetty on the southern shores of Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra.

The NCA has declared The Dock Pty Limited as the successful proponent to run the East Kiosk and Jetty at Commonwealth Place, effective 25 December 2021. The Dock has also been granted a separate 3-month licence for activation of the West Jetty.

The Dock is a steadfast industry player with seven years of expertise in serving a premium food and beverage offering for Canberrans. The company’s intimate knowledge of the capital, and of the sense of pride and national identity associated with Lake Burley Griffin, makes it a perfect fit to serve lake-goers and users with dine-in and take-away fare. The East Kiosk would seek to partner with the local community, sporting, and active lifestyle groups.

Chief Executive of the NCA, Sally Barnes, says, “The NCA conducts periodic reviews of amenities around the Lake to make sure Canberrans and Australians will grow their appreciation and admiration for Lake Burley Griffin, the centrepiece of the National Capital.

“We’d like to thank all those who submitted proposals to operate the East Kiosk and Jetty and congratulate The Dock on its new venture and look forward to enjoying its innovative approach to hospitality in the new year.”

The Dock’s new venture at East Kiosk, BY Lake Burley Griffin, will be called ‘The Jetty’, and will showcase Canberra’s premium local produce & talent, in a location that highlights the iconic landmarks of our Nation’s Capital. It will offer healthy food options like focaccias, baguettes, and salads, as well as local coffee brews, cheese, and grazing boards to have on the Jetty or as take-away.

Picnic hampers will be available for sale to those who would prefer to sit by the lakeside and away from the crowds. And for those who prefer to move about, fun lawn games will also be available for hire. Further, souvenirs handcrafted by local artisans and craftspeople will be there for the taking. And for next winter, visitors will hopefully have a chance to savour gustatory delights under a dome for a unique wintry dining experience.

The East Jetty space will feature the BentSpoke Beer Garden with Mr Papa’s Peruvian Street Food truck & live music on offer Thursday to Sundays for the entire Summer.

The West Jetty will have an all-local wine offering, with Tallagandra Hill Winery and other Canberra District Wineries to be announced as well as pop-up food & drink carts.

The Dock will activate both Jetties for New Year’s Eve celebrations with live music starting at 4pm & finishing at mid-night with the final Fireworks display.
