The National Capital Authority (NCA) will conduct a small, controlled burn at Yarramundi Peninsula, Yarralumla, between 10 am and 5 pm on Sunday 23 April 2023, weather permitting.

Experienced fire fighters from the ACT Rural Fire Service will conduct the burn.

While the NCA will take all efforts to reduce smoke affecting nearby areas, people with asthma and other respiratory conditions are advised to avoid vigorous exercise in the area and to stay inside if affected by smoke. There may also be smoke impacts on nearby roads and cycle paths, and cyclists on cycle paths traversing the grasslands may experience short delays.

The NCA undertakes controlled burns to address fuel build-up or to remove debris piles from fallen trees. This particular burn will reduce fuel loads, promote native grass growth, and reduce exotic weed species in this area.
