The National Capital Authority (NCA) is proud to partner with ACT Surface Festival on murals to enliven the National Triangle. These murals cover an enormous 280 square metres of wall and weave a visual narrative that represents the natural beauty of the National Triangle.
Taking place across two locations, the Parkes Way pedestrian underpass and the Commonwealth Avenue pedestrian underpass, this project draws together an All-Star-Festival-Line-up, including Beastman, Eddie Longford, Karri McPherson and Tim Phibs.
Tim Phibs is curating the mural design and is focusing on the plant and animal life of the National Triangle. Beastman and Karri McPherson are focusing on geography - both natural and man-made. Eddie Longford, in consultation with local elders and community, is focusing on the rich Indigenous history of the National Triangle.
These murals are informed by stories and images of the land, lake, and cultural precinct at the heart of Canberra.
ACT Surface Festival runs from March 4-6 and artworks are popping up throughout Canberra. Full program available online at ACT Surface Festival website.
